CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | @edvital presented a late-breaking abstract on the #SLE ROOTS trial that used objective eligibility criteria to evaluate rituximab. At week 4 and 8, placebo pts performed better in efficacy evaluations, but at later endpoints rituximab efficacy improved.

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | Coziana Ciurtin presented a late-breaking abstract on biomarker stratification in the APPLE trial, of pediatric pts with #SLE. Pts in placebo arm had 2 distinct patterns of CIMT progression, atorvastatin treated pts had 3 patterns of CIMT progression.

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | @george_bertsias discussed #SLE risk prediction. 22.1% pts developed classifiable SLE by ACR/EULAR criteria. Family history & smoking were predictive for dev from 'at risk' to classifiable SLE. Type 1 IFN pathway was found to be involved in SLE dev. #lupus

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | @sarahdyball1 presented results from the BILAG-BR study of 1601 pts with #SLE. White pts were least likely to have renal involvement, 56% of all pts achieved clinical response at 12 mo, and black or south Asian patients were less likely to respond. #lupus

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | @LouKawka discussed the digital LEAF tool to assess fatigue in pts with #lupus. 1250 pts were included in the study, and 78.9% had significant fatigue. Fibromyalgia, clinical insomnia, and high stress levels were all associated with significant fatigue.

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | Dong-Jin Park presented results from the KORNET study of kidney disease in LN. 175 pts were enrolled. In pts with tubulointerstitial inflammation, CKD (45.5%) and death (4.5%) was more common compared to pts without TII (18.5% and 0%). #lupus

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | Xingbei Dong spoke on the results from a 10 year study of patients with #SLE and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The main cause of death in SLE-PAH pts was PAH exacerbation (57%). 20% of high-risk pts died within one year of diagnosis. #lupus

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | @EricFMorand, @MonashUni discussed how achievement of LLDAS with and without remission (REM) prevents adverse #SLE outcomes. 18% of pts achieved LLDAS without REM. Attainment of LLDAS even without REM significantly protected against flare and damage accrual.

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | Georg Schett @UniFAU updated us on the use of CD19 CAR-T cells in patients with refractory #SLE. #Lupus resolved rapidly after infusion, with an increase in complement C3 after 3 months. All patients achieved SLEDAI remission during follow up.

CONGRESS #EULAR2023 | Joan T Merrill presented phase II SLEek study data of ABBV-599 (elsubrutinib and upadacitinib) vs upadacitinib monotherapy for #SLE. The primary endpoint of SRI-4 response was met at Week 48 in both groups (51.5% for ABBV-599 & 45.2% for monotherapy). #lupus
